The Brief
Present substation automation and IEC 61850 products to utilities
The Approach
Utilities buying substation automation want to see hardware and understand the data layer that connects it. Kalkitech needed Elecrama to deliver both without the stand becoming either an equipment store or an abstract diagram.
Design, Production & Execution
The design integrates the racks into the architecture. Live equipment is built directly into the stand walls, so the hardware is genuinely present and demonstrable rather than displayed on trestles, and an LED-washed data-flow graphic wall runs alongside it, making the IEC 61850 interoperability story visible as movement and connection. The physical and the logical sit side by side, which is exactly how the sales conversation runs.
Outcome
Building live equipment into a wall requires the electrical design to be resolved before the joinery is cut. Rack apertures, ventilation, cable management, isolation and rear service access were engineered into the wall modules in the workshop, with power distribution designed for temporary supply and tested before dispatch. On site, structure and racks went in first, equipment was installed and powered under controlled conditions, and the LED wash was focused last so it lifted the graphic without throwing glare across the equipment faces.
