The Brief

Translate the Kurukshetra narrative into a headset-native immersive experience

The Approach

Kurukshetra is a story everyone in the audience already knows, which raises rather than lowers the bar: a VR retelling has to justify the headset by delivering something a screen cannot. The brief was to place the viewer inside the narrative rather than in front of it.

Design, Production & Execution

The design work happened in the storyboard, because in VR there is no frame to compose and no cut to hide behind. Scenes were built for a viewer who can look anywhere - staging, scale and sound directing attention instead of a camera angle, with sequence lengths and transitions paced for headset comfort. The result reads as presence rather than spectacle: the environment surrounds the viewer, and the narrative unfolds around them.

Outcome

Production ran as a 360-degree capture and build pipeline, with rig positions and blocking planned so no critical action fell into a stitch line. Post-production covered stitching, cleanup, spatial audio and colour, with review passes conducted in-headset rather than on a monitor - the only way to judge scale, comfort and attention in this medium. Final delivery was encoded and tested on the actual playback hardware, so the experience performed identically on every headset in the deployment.
